Literature in Spanish with roots in the United States

This information accompanies La Peña, a special Tertulia series of readings of poetry and fiction to celebrate literature in Spanish by US-based authors, co-curated with writer Melanie Márquez Adams. It is by no means exhaustive*, but it’s a starting point if you want to explore a list of dozens of US-based writers who write in Spanish, literary magazines and presses located here that publish works in Spanish, and festivals focused on Spanish-language literature that take place in different cities across the country.

Another useful website to check out is #NewLatinoBoom.

* After publishing this information in November 2021, several people have contacted Tertulia to add their names and their organizations to these lists. Contact me (Emily) if you’d like to do the same. ¡Gracias!
